Host family, Location & School

On holiday in Austria I finally received an email from AFS with my placement data. It took a long time but that was expected.
You’ll probably wonder why I’m not going to my first family in Chiba, but thats because I changed to another exchange organization. But I’m syill having good contact with them!

This year I’ll be going to the city Sapporo in the prefecture Hokkaido, it’s in the North of Japan! I didn’t expect to go there and I don’t know a lot about Hokkaido, but if I tell Japanese people I go to Sapporo they say it’s VERY beautiful and they envy me! So it’s gonna be fine 😀
I’m going to a temporary host family I don’t know a lot about, only their family name and address. I don’t know the reason why it’s temporary, but quite a lot exchange students have temporary families 🙂
Because I don’t know their email address I have send them a letter last week, I hope they’ll email me before my depature! Maybe with some photos! 😀 I’m really curious!

I also received my school information! I am going to the  Yamanote Senior High School. It’s a co-educational school, so there will be girls and boys! This will be my uniform for a year! I have a summer and winter uniform. I really like my uniform! 😀 I don’t have to worry about what to wear every morning!
You’ll probably think I am nuts, but I’m so excited to go to school in Japan! 😀

Now I need to get my visa and count down the last days!

How did you like Sapporo? I lived and worked in Sapporo from 1982 to Feb. 2014. I’m originally from Syracuse, NY and strangely enough both Sapporo and Syracuse are located at 43 degrees north latitude, so the weather is very similar. I moved back to the U.S. in Feb. and am now living in Syracuse again. At 69 I’m retired and spend most of my time watching TV. Hope you enjoyed your time in Japan as much as I did and want to wish you all the luck in the future.

I liked Sapporo very much. It’s been such a long time since I used my blog. I went back to Sapporo a couple of times already. And I will start studying in Tokyo from April 2016! So excited. It’s really great you worked in Sapporo. You used mainly English? I might look for a job in Sapporo for the future! If you have any tips, please let me know! Kind regards, Michelle
